Explanation of the conversion: Trailbreaker's jet pack only works in robot mode, while his wheels and hydrofoils
only work in vehicle mode. While this write-up is meant to represent his Generation One form, it also works for his
Cybertonian and Cobra Stinger forms.
History (Dreamwave comics): When civil war broke out between the Autobots and Decepticon factions, Trailbreaker
joined the Autobot cause.
Trailbreaker was present under the command of Grimlock at the battle of Altihex where the Autobot Overhaul was killed
and Decepticon Seekers Thundercracker and Skywarp destroyed a a transport full of neutral Cybertonians. Unable to save
the city, the Autobot helped evacuate civilians (Transformers: The War Within #1).
When Decepticon Military Operations Commander Shockwave lead a force of Decepticons against
the Autobot capitol of Iacon, Trailbreaker was among the Autobots who defended the capitol (Transformers: War Within #5-6).
When Decepticon leader Megatron and Autobot leader Optimus
Prime disappeared in an accident with a space bridge, the Autobot and Decepticon forces splintered into smaller
factions. Trailbreaker stayed with the Autobots under the leadership of Prowl.
When Prowl and his team of Autobots confronted Trypticon, Hound,
Tracks, Trailbreaker and other Autobots showed up as reinforcements (Transformers: The War Within - The Dark Ages #4).
Trailbreaker was among the Autobots who followed Optimus Prime on his mission on board the
Ark. They were attacked by Megatron's ship, the Nemesis. After being boarded the Ark crash landed on Earth, where all on
board were preserved in emergency stasis.
In 1984 a volcanic eruption awakened the Ark's computer, Teletran-1, and it repaired all on board. It reformatted Trailbreaker
in the form of an Earth truck.
Eventually the combined forces of the Autobots on Earth, and their human allies were able to capture the Decepticons. A
ship called the Ark II was built to take the Cybertonians back to Cybertron, along with some human companions, but the
ship exploded shortly after takeoff. The human allies were killed, but the Cybertonians were lost in the ocean, again in
statis lock.
After Spike Witwicky used a piece of the Matrix to revive Optimus Prime, Optimus traveled to the remote shoreline where
he was recovered and used the Matrix to revive Jazz, Mirage, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Superion, Trailbreaker and Wheeljack (Transformers: Generation One #2).
Trailbreaker returned to Cybertron with Optimus Prime and most of the Autobots to face charges after Ultra Magnus them the
war had ended.
After the defeat of Megatron II the planet Cybertron was left reformatted into a techno-organic world.
On the reformatted techno-organic Cybertron Cheetor, Rattrap, Silverbolt III and Blackarachnia were interviewed by the
Autobot reporter Rook. They then welcomed the Autobots
Roulette, Shadowstriker, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker back to Cybertron. Buzzsaw III, Quickstrike II and Rockbuster were also present. The returning Autobots along with Blackarachnia and Silverbolt
III were then abducted via teleportation beams and taken to Unicron. Tap-Out, Megatron IV, Brawn, Grimlock and Snarl III were also abducted from various timelines.
Silverbolt III, Blackarachnia, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were forcibly reformatted by Unicron. Taken captive by Razorclaw
IV, Reptilion, Obsidian III, Tankor II and Striker, the Autobots were forced to fight one another. They witnessed
Smokescreen III kill Smokescreen, whose spark was absorbed by Unicron. Sensing the need for a champion Primus and Alpha
Trion brought Optimus Primal back to life (Transformers: Universe #1).
Trailbreaker was among the Cybertonians kidnapped by Unicron. He escaped with a large number of his
fellow prisoners thanks to Optimus Primal and returned to Cybertron (Transformers:
Universe #2).
''Looks like some pigeonoids can't find their nest.'' That's how Trailbreaker describes a full-scale attack by a
battalion of flying Decepticons. He'll make light of anything, no matter how dire the situation, and has been known to
cross the optic circuits of Huffer while he's in his rest mode. Even Huffer laughed at that one. He's the Autobot
cheerleader, but there's a darker side to Trailbreaker. He is the most fuel-consuming Autobot and thus believes he is a
liability to the group. He often has volunteered to be left behind in battle situations rather than use up precious
resources. His lack of self-esteem is apparent to Autobot leader Optimus Prime, who continually reassures him of his value.
Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of
Trailbreaker is played by actor Frank Welker. The toy of Trailbreaker is ]
similar to that of Hoist. The original Diaclone toy Trailbreaker was based on was blue.
Powers: Trailbreaker is very tough and nearly fearless. His force-field projector can create an energy barrier
with up to a 30-foot radius that withstands penetration by all forms of projectiles, all wavelengths of electromagnetic
radiation except those of extremely high intensity, and temperatures as high as 800,000 degrees Centigrade. A sustained
assault on the force-field, if strong enough, can eventually weaken and destroy it. Mounted behind his head, Trailbreaker
wears a radio-jamming broadcaster. He can transmit signals on 64 frequencies simultaneously and often uses it to jam enemy
attempts at jamming Autobot communications. He carries a low power laser weapon and can fire low yield missiles from his
wrists. In vehicle form he can travel on water thanks to hydrofoils given to him by Wheeljack. In robot form Trailbreaker sometimes utilizes a standard Autobot jet pack.
Weaknesses: His high fuel consumption and slowness of movement make Trailbreaker particularly vulnerable in certain
situations. He'll often mope about his handicaps and forget about his responsibilities as a consequencs, but his bravery
and defensive prowess are unquestioned, and he can usually recover his wits in time to save himself and his comrades.
He also lacks in offensive firepower.
