Explanation of the conversion:
History (Devil's Due comics): In 2004 Swoop was among the Autobots under the leadership Optimus Prime who attempted to take back the planet Cybertron from the Decepticon tyrant Shockwave. After an accident with the teleportational systems of the supercomputer Teletran-3,
Swoop found himself sent back in time and on the planet Earth. He was reformatted in the form of an Earth dinosaur with
several other Autobots. A group of humans were able to bring the new Dinobots back to Cybertron and they helped overcome
Shockwave (G.I. Joe vs. The Transformers II #4).
History (Dreamwave comics): When civil war broke out on the planet Cybertron 8.7 million years ago between the Autobots
and Deceptions, Swoop joined the Autobot cause.
When Autobot leader Optimus Prime and Decepticon leader Megatron disappeared in an accident with the space bridge 7.4 million years ago, the Autobot and
Decepticon forces broke up into factions. Swoop joined up with the Lightning Strike Coalition under the command of Grimlock.
Grimlock lead L.S.C. members Ironhide, Kup, Slag, Sludge, Snarl, Swoop and Wheeljack in stealing a shipment of energon from
Starscream and the Predacons at the Moon Alpha Space Port (Transformers: The War Within - The Dark Ages #1).
Ultra Magnus reunited the Autobot factions, with Grimlock working as one of his advisors. Swoop became a member of the
Dynobots, a special Autobot unit directly under Grimlock's command.
The Dynobots were assigned to security at the peace talks between the Autobots, Decepticons and Ultracons 6 million
years ago. It was their actions which saved the participants from being blown up in a sneak attack by Starscream and his Predacons (Transformers: Age of Wrath #1).
After Optimus Prime and the crew of the Autobot ship the Ark were lost in space 4 million years ago, the Dynobots formed a
search party to recover them. They tracked the Autobot ship to the planet Earth, where the Dynobots were reformatted into
mechanical dinosaurs, and Swoop gained his current form. The Dynobots were ambushed by Decepticons Kickback, Shrapnel and
Bombshell, and left in stasis lock until they were discovered by Prime and his crew in the 1980's. Because of their new
alternate forms they were renamed the Dinobots.
History (Marvel comics): Swoop started out as an Autobot named Divebomb, where he served as an one of the elite flying Autobots. A
Predacon defeated him in battle and decided to take Divebomb's name. The Predacon nearly killed the Autobot in their
second encounter, but he was saved by his commander, Optimus Prime. Wishing he had been
killed by the Predacon, the Autobot came to resent Optimus for saving him. The Autobot choose a new name for himself and
became Swoop.
Swoop was among the Autobots who came to Earth with on board the Ark under the leadership of Optimus Prime. When the Ark crash
landed on Earth it reformatted Swoop in the form of one of the Earth's native creatures, a pterodactyl.
Swoop was among the united Autobot and Decepticon forces who opposed Unicron's assault on
the planet Cybertron in 1991 (Transformers #75).
Making a spectacular descent from the sky, Swoop watches with unhidden glee as his enemies scatter in terror before his looming presence, and that's just the way he likes it because he knows fear is a more effective weapon than any equipment he carries. Fear is also his greatest friend. His ability to cause it in others is the sole comfort he derives from the form generally considered the most horrifying of all the Dinobots. Even his comrades shy away from him, and that is Swoop's tragedy. Four million years ago, when the Ark adapted his Autobot body to resemble that of a pterodactyl's, he gladly accepted the disguise as his contribution to the Autobot cause. Little did he know back then that the good-natured, kind mechanoid that he was - and still is - would be disguised as well.
Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of Swoop is
played by actor Michael Bell.

carries an air-to-air missile launcher. Each missile is the equivalent of 5000 lbs. of TNT. Although the missiles have a range of 8 miles and are very accurate, Swoop's specialty is swooping down to low altitudes and releasing them virtually point blank at their targets, and then speeding away. In robot mode he can also use the launchers, as well as a thermal sword, which, by heating up to temperatures of 4000 degrees Centigrade, can slice through most materials by melting through them as it passes. Swoop can fire powerful lasers from his eyes in pterodactyl mode.
Weaknesses: Although he's extremely maneuverable and has great endurance due to low fuel consumption, Swoop is
vulnerable to enemy firepower due to the relatively fragile nature of his wings.
