Explanation of the conversion:

History: Jack Monroe's story starts in a small town in Clutier, Iowa, born December 7th, 1941 on Pearl Harbor Day. Jack's father was a Nazi sympathizer along with many others in the community. In order to assure that Jack and his older sister kept the secret, his father beat them both mercilessly whenever they entered the basement full of Nazi paraphernalia. Unfortunately simply beating a small child is not going to secure his silence. One day at school little Jack brought in a swastika armband for show and tell, and obviously the entire town was under some kind of investigation and he was confronted by F.B.I. agents. After some soda and ice cream to win his confidence, the FBI eventually busted Jack's parents, along with many other co-conspirators throughout the town.

As a result of the beatings and the trial afterwards, Jack buried most of his past in his subconscious and never revealed it to to anyone, even to himself.

As a teenager Jack was enrolled in the Lee School for Boys in Connecticut, where he met a history teacher named "Steve Rogers" who shared his worship of the WW II hero Captain America. The meeting was not coincidental but planned in an effort to rekindle the Captain America legend.

When "Steve" found the notes for the Super-Soldier formula in the notebooks of a Nazi spy and used it to become the fourth Captain America to combat an impostor Red Skull, Jack became the third person to adopt the "Bucky" role. Side effects from the incomplete Super-Soldier treatment drove both him and Captain America IV into a hyper-paranoid state. Captured by FBI agents, both of them were placed in suspended animation.

In the 1970s they were released by a disgruntled government worker, and went on a rampage until captured by Captain America, the Falcon, and Sharon Carter. They were again placed in suspended animation, until Dr. Faustus gained custody of them. He brainwashed Captain America IV, and used him in a plot against Captain America. Later the newest Captain America tried to kill Jack due to Faustus' mental tamperings, then committed suicide. When Dr. Faustus' plan failed, Jack underwent years of psychiatric therapy, mixed with cerebral stimulants, and depressants while undergoing mental conditioning to fit the government's idea of new American values including the Vietnam police action. Later he was put into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, and finally after being released sought apprenticeship under his idol, the original Captain America. Donning the Nomad identity, he teamed up with the Falcon, Demolition Man along with Captain America.

Nomad III A while later he struck out as a total independent, using the name Nomad, fighting Ulysses Lugman alias the Slug, a crimelord dealing in drugs, guns, and prostitution. After a prostitute informant was killed, Nomad investigated and found out her parents were old southern millionaires, and that the her pimp was in on the murder while at the same time being a friend of theirs due to fathering their grandchild. Later he found out the pimp killed her due to information she had on him regarding the government, drugs, and a really big gun. In the process he rescued a another prostitute's daughter from the same pimp. Seeing the mother as a teenage prostitute, addicted to numerous drugs including crack cocaine, he adopted the daughter himself, and since the child had no name, he named her Bucky.

Traveling the country with Bucky, Nomad ran into the Punisher, DeadPool, Gambit, and of course Captain America, but most important other than Bucky throughout the series is Giscard Epurer, who plays a pivotal part in the entire series pushing Jack into different situations. Along the way Jack makes somewhat normal friends called the Undergrounders consisting of prostitutes, con artists, and small time thieves, which continue to get him into trouble, while at the same time giving his life a little more meaning.

Eventually he ran back into Dr. Faust who brainwashed him again but after he, and Captain America stop him he was sent to a minimum security prison where Jack broke in, and killed him. After recovering his memory, due to Faustus's manipulations along with Epurer he returned to his home town, and saved the country from a neo-nazi organization outside of his hometown, he killed almost the entire camp with a weapon they meant to use against him and later killed their leader who is a United States congressman who tried to blow up congress leading to Nomad's apparent death, but instead lead him to being put back in suspended animation again. Bucky was put in in Giscard's custody.

Jack was then remade into Scourge IX by Henry Peter Gyrich in his plan to destroy superhumans. Using implants that were able to control him Jack was sent to kill the members on the Thunderbolts in particular order, starting with Jolt II, who was considered the heart of the Thunderbolts. He killed her by shooting her with a hard air bullet while she was at a coffee shop with teammate Charcoal and some friends from school (Thunderbolts #35).

Scourge IX then killed news reporter Gayle Rogers, who had been investigating the Thunderbolts and was getting too close his how he killed Jolt II. He then impersonated Roxxon corrodinator Samuel Higgins and stole information on their Omega-32 research, killing an employee named Bobbie Haggert with a quill weapon (Thunderbolts #36).

Scourge IX then traveled to Central America to find Baron Zemo II. He spent days casing out his secret hideout. He then challenged Zemo to a fight and was able to defeat him by stabbing him with his sword and cutting his head off (Thunderbolts #37-39).

Scourge IX then turned his attention to Techno II, following him from a bar in Burton Canyon to the Thunderbolts Headquarters, where Techno II had rejoined the Thunderbolts while impersonating Ogre (Thunderbolts #40-41).

Scourge IX learned that the headquarters, including three bio-chambers containing a revitalized Jolt II, Ogre and another person were hooked up to Techno II's system and if he killed Techno II the people in the chambers would die too (Thunderbolts #42).

Scourge IX spent days trying to figure out how to kill Techno II without endangering the chambers. He attacked Techno II and took his arm for study, then disappeared by shrinking inside Techno II's body. Once he figured out how to bypass his systems Scourge IX attacked Techno II by enlarging inside his body (Thunderbolts #44-45).

Scourge IX then encased Techno II inside a hard air cocoon. As Scourge IX worked to sever Techno II's link to the chambers, Techno II made the decision to release Jolt II, who had been transformed into a creature of living energy, despite it taking the last of his energy and killing him. Meanwhile Atlas's powers started to run amok, causing him to grow to great size and possibly explode. While Atlas was Scourge IX's next target, he had no desire to kill the people who might be killed in the explosion, so he helped Jolt II contain Altas. He used the Pym particles in his gauntlets to shrink Atlas down and place them inside one of his gauntlets and threw the gauntlet into a canyon where no one except Atlas died in the explosion (Thunderbolts #46-47).

After the death of Atlas Scourge IX escaped and made his way to a Denver airport, where the Thunderbolts tracked him down. They attacked the jet he was on and captured him. They removed his mask only to discover the face of Captain America (Thunderbolts #48).

The face of Captain America was a hologram, and when removed revealed Jack. MACH-2 discovered the implants which controlled Jack and disabled them, then Jack was able to tell his story of how Gyrich controlled him to the Thunderbolts (Thunderbolts #49).

Note: The first Nomad was an identity of the original Captain America which he used in Captain America #180-183. The second was a man named Edward Ferbel, who used the name in Captain America #261-262.

Note: The relation between Scourge IX and the previous assassins who went by the name Scourge is unknown.

Powers: Because of the Super Soldier Serum in Jack his physical abilities are near peak human and he is able to lift/press 500 lbs. He probably is immune to most diseases and ages slower then normal like Captain America. He formerly developed low level superhuman strength because the serum was unstable in his blood, but it has now stabilized.

Scourge IX wears an advanced suit of armor which protects him from harm, projects holograms allowing him to appear invisible or as someone else and has a number of weapon systems stored using a Pym particle projector to shrink them. He can also use the projector to shrink himself or other objects. The suit itself is held in storage on a matrix card (similar to the one used by the Titanium Man). He activates the weapons by either vocal or cybernetic command. The weapons are numbered for quick release. 6 is a flying platform (much like the one used by the Hobgoblin). 9 is a concussive blast. 11 are boot springs (like those used by the Leapfrog). 14 is a blinding flash. 19 is a vine growth ray (like that used by the Plantman). 23 are his leg stilts (like those used by the Stiltman). 25 is a head mounted power beam (like that used by the Unicorn). 30 is a cascade of ice schrapnel (like that used by Blizzard). 34 is a flame jet. 39 is a sword (similar to the one used by Baron Zemo). 42 is a shield (looking much like that used by Captain America).
