Explanation of the conversion: I decided to represent Red Alert's abilities as a combination of high level perception and Danger Sense. Red Alert can fly only in robot mode, but in car mode he is capable of high speed on the ground.
History (Dreamwave comics): When civil war broke out on the planet Cybertron between the Autobots and Decepticons,
Red Alert joined the Autobot cause.
Red Alert acted as an advisor to Optimus Prime when he became the new Autobot leader.
After the Great Shutdown ended Red Alert was reformatted into an Earth-style car.
Red Alert was among the Autobots to receive combat training from Prowl and Ironhide on Cybertron (Transformers: Generation One III #2).
Brawn, Grapple, Hoist, Jazz, Omega
Supreme, Prowl, Red Alert, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were
among the Autobots who continued work on Autobot City (Transformers: Generation One III #13).
Red Alert's paranoia and nervousness make him succeptible to rash judgments. Consequently, his actions can be injurious to
both himself and his fellow Autobots, if he's not careful.
Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of Red Alert
is played by actor Michael Chain.
Red Alert shouldn't be confused with Red Alert II, an Autobot who turns into an Ambulance, Red Alert III, an
Autobot Micromaster who turns into a fire truck or Red Alert IV, a character in the Transformers: Cybertron line.
The toy for Red Alert is similar to the
toy for Sideswipe, Clampdown, Deep Cover and Tiger Track. There was also a miniature version
of Red Alert released in Japan. There was a Transformers: Universe Spychanger named Prowl, who looked very similar to
Red Alert.
Powers: Red Alert can trigger an electronic alarm on each of his fellow Autobots. His sensory perception is
excellent. His visual acuity is such that he can pinpoint a 2 centimeter microchip at 1200 feet. He can hear a pin drop -
at a distance of 1.4 miles! His olfactory module can detect odors as weak as 2 parts per million. In vehicular mode he is
among the fastest of the Autobots. In robot mode he carries a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher that has a 25-mile range,
and a high-energy particle beam rifle. Red Alert can utilize a standard Autobot jet pack.
Weaknesses: Paranoia is the character trait that makes Red Alert as good as he is at his job. Nothing escapes his
notice - a whiff of smoke, a whisper of crackling electricity, a faint scent of fuel exhaust. Anything, no matter how
small, that triggers his sensory circuitry directs his thoughts immediately to the expectation of trouble. Most of his
comrades find his edgy, driven nature unwelcome presence among their ranks, but they all appreciate his dedication to his
duty. "He may have a few wires crossed in his logic center," says Inferno, "but at least his optical sensors are
looking straight ahead."
