Explanation of the conversion: Prowl's flight only works in robot mode, while his wheels and swimming only work in vehicle mode. Although this write-up is meant to represent Prowl in his Generation One form, it also works for his Cybertonian form.

History (Dreamwave comics): Before the Great War on Cybertron Prowl lived in the city of Praxus. When civil war broke out between the Autobots and Decepticon factions, Prowl joined the Autobot cause. He quickly rose in rank among the Autobots.

Prowl After Autobot leader Sentinel Prime was killed by Decepticon leader Megatron, an Autobot named Optronix was given the Matrix and reformatted into the new Autobot leader, Optimus Prime. Prowl acted as an advisor to Optimus.

When Decepticon Military Operations Commander Shockwave lead a force of Decepticons against the Autobot capitol of Iacon, Prowl was among the Autobots who defended the capitol (Transformers: War Within #3).

When Decepticon leader Megatron and Autobot leader Optimus Prime disappeared in an accident with a space bridge, the Autobot and Decepticon forces splintered into smaller factions. Prowl lead the main Autobot faction, with Grimlock forming the Lightning Strike Coalition, Hotspot commanding the Protectabots and Springer forming the Wreckers.

Hound & Prowl Learning that the Decepticons were testing a new mobile command base at the Praetorus Wharf, Prowl lead Cliffjumper, Gears, Jazz, Skids and Sideswipe to investigate. What they discovered was Trypticon (Transformers: The War Within - The Dark Ages #3).

Prowl was second in command among the Autobots who followed Optimus Prime on his mission on board the Ark. They were attacked by Megatron's ship, the Nemesis. After being boarded the Ark crash landed on Earth, where all on board were preserved in emergency stasis.

Prowl In 1984 a volcanic eruption awakened the Ark's computer, Teletran-1, and it repaired all on board. It reformatted Prowl in the form of an Earth car.

Eventually the combined forces of the Autobots on Earth, and their human allies were able to capture the Decepticons. A ship called the Ark II was built to take the Cybertonians back to Cybertron, along with some human companions, but the ship exploded shortly after takeoff. The human allies were killed, but the Cybertonians were lost in the ocean, again in statis lock.

Prowl and others were recovered by a rogue military unit and reprogrammed as slave war machines.

Bumblebee, Frenzy, Grimlock, Laserbeak, Prowl, Ravage, Soundwave and Starscream were forced at attack the Smitco oil refinery in the Arctic to display their power for sale to the highest bidder (Transformer: Generation One #2).

Megatron broke free and then freed his fellow Decepticons and Grimlock. Prowl and the other Autobots who were found by Lazarus were abused by Megatron's troops, but were eventually by freed by Optimus Prime.

Prowl returned to Cybertron with Optimus Prime and most of the Autobots to face charges after Ultra Magnus them the war had ended.

On Cybertron Prowl and Ironhide gave combat training to Swerve, Hubcap, Tailgate, Pipes and Red Alert (Transformers: Generation One III #2).

Prowl Once things were in place on Cybertron, Prowl decided to lead an Autobot mission back to Earth. Once there they landed in Alaska, and joining up with the Autobots on Earth they began construction on Autobot City (Transformers: Generation One III #10).

Brawn, Grapple, Hoist, Jazz, Omega Supreme, Prowl, Red Alert, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were among the Autobots who continued work on Autobot City (Transformers: Generation One III #13).

History (Marvel comics): Prowl was among the united Autobot and Decepticon forces who opposed Unicron's assault on the planet Cybertron in 1991 (Transformers #75).

Jetfire, Optimus Prime, Prowl and Mirage.

He is quiet, competent, and very loyal, but perhaps his most valuable trait is his almost endless patience. Once Prowl is assigned a task, he will keep at it until it is accomplished. He works with proven facts, not imagination or guesses. If he has any doubts, he will radio Optimus Prime, his commander, before proceeding. He hates doubts in any form, and he strives to make everything he encounters reasonable and logical. He believes it only when he can explain it. On a personal level he is friendly, but not too sociable. He's a listener, not a talker, unless someone says something unreasonable. Then he will demand an explanation.

Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of Prowl is played by actor Michael Bell. Besides the original form Prowl took, later toys portrayed him as an Action Master, then re-released in his original form. In Japan a miniature version of Prowl was released. The toy of Prowl is similar to that for Bluestreak and Smokescreen. He shouldn't be confused with Prowl II, a Maximal who can become a lion, or Prowl III, a Maximal who can become a owl.

Cobra Autobots

Prowl Powers: Prowl has the most sophisticated logic center of all the Autobots, giving him the ability to analyze any combat situation almost instantaneously and then advise on the optimal course of action. For example, Prowl can observe 800 moving objects, compute their probable paths of movement, and determine the proper countermove in 0.05 seconds. From his shoulder cannons he can shoot wire-guided incendiary missiles that reach temperatures of 12,000 degrees Centigrade upon explosion. He also carries a semi-automatic rifle that can fire lasers and shoots pellets filled with a highly corrosive acid. Its range is 300 yards. Prowl has a single use energon net launcher which he can use to capture an opponent. In vehicle form he can travel on water thanks to hydrofoils given to him by Wheeljack. In robot form Prowl sometimes utilizes a standard Autobot jet pack.

Weaknesses: His dedication to logic and reason makes Prowl particularly vulnerable to the unexpected. Irrational and inexplicable situations can really scramble his circuits, sometimes to the point of total shutdown of his mechano-cortex center, leaving him temporarily dysfunctional. Prowl has slightly less than average firepower.
