Explanation of the conversion: Although this write-up is meant for his Generation One form, it also works for his
Cybertonian form. Jetfire's Unluck should manifest as systems breakdowns and glitches.
History (Dreamwave comics): Before the Great War between the Autobots and Decepticons broke out on Cybertron Jetfire
was friends with Starscream. After the war broke out, he was slow to choose sides with the Autobots. Because of this
many Autobots didn't trust him.
When Decepticon leader Megatron and Autobot leader Optimus Prime disappeared in an accident with a space bridge, the Autobot and Decepticon
forces splintered into smaller factions. Jetfire stayed with the Autobots under the leadership of Prowl.
When Grimlock learned that Jetfire had arranged a meeting with the current Decepticon
leader Shockwave, Grimlock suspected that Jetfire had betrayed the
Autobots to the Decepticons (Transformers: The War Within - The Dark Ages #3).
Jetfire was among the Cybertonians who were kidnapped by the Fallen and used in an arcane ritual, but he was freed by
Grimlock and helped defeat the Fallen.
When Optimus Prime and his crew on the Ark disappeared in space, Jetfire was part of a mission to find them, along with Omega Supreme, Countdown and Groundshaker. When the mission to find Optimus had two different
possible star systems to follow, the mission split up. Omega and Jetfire investigated the Sol system. They were attacked by
unknown forces on the planet Earth and were forced into emergency stasis lock until the early 21st century, when they were
discovered and revived.
Jetfire then confronted the powerful and crazed Decepticon Sunstorm, alongside Starscream and several Autobots.
With a reckless daring that comes from being among the swiftest of all the Autobots, Jetfire is the most eager of his comrades
to plunge into battle, but his bravado is tempered by one overriding thought: he sincerely believes that victory over the
Decepticons can only come through advancements in Autobot technology. His allegiance to his cause is only matched by his
devotion to scientific research.
Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of Skyfire is
played by actor Gregg Berger. Jetfire's toy is based on the Super VF-1S jet from the Macross television series. Because of legal
concerns over it's image, they could not use Jetfire in the Transformers television series, and instead invented Skyfire.
Jetfire was redone for Generation Two as a Cyberjet. Jetfire shouldn't be confused with Jetfire II or Jetfire III.
Powers: Jetfire is incredibly skilled and intelligent. In jet-fighter mode, Jetfire's unique swing-wing design
allows him to take off like a normal jet and then,
pulling his wings back, reach speeds of up to Mach 4.2. Adding twin supersonic combustion ramjet (i.e. scramjet) engine
modules along with twin liquid hydrogen fuel tanks allows Jetfire to achieve orbital velocities, or to even escape Earth's
gravity altogether. With this capability, he can launch like a missile, shoot up above the atmosphere, and, at a speed of
Mach 29, dive down like a blazing meteor (hence his name) half a world away only 30 minutes later. In robot and jet mode,
he is equipped with four independently targetable particle beam cannons around his head and eight heat-seeking
armor-piercing missiles. He also carries an automatic rifle.
Weaknesses: Jetfire's range is limited by his fuel consumption; any transatmospheric trip requires his refueling
when he lands. Since he is newly constructed by the Ark, he is prone to numerous mechanical failures as the bugs in his
system are worked out. Anything from a malfunctioning radio to an engine stall in deep space has been known to happen.
Although Jetfire is powerful, he lacks stamina for long term combat.
