Explanation of the conversion: Cliffjumper's Unluck should usually manifest as tire blowouts or as his glass gas backfiring. His jet pack only works in robot mode, whereas his wheels and hydrofoils only work in vehicle mode.

History (Dreamwave comics): When civil war broke out on the planet Cybertron between the Autobots and Decepticons, Cliffjumper joined the Autobot cause.

Cliffjumper When Decepticon Military Operations Commander Shockwave lead a force of Decepticons against the Autobot capitol of Iacon, Cliffjumper was among the Autobots who defended the capitol (Transformers: War Within #3).

When Decepticon leader Megatron and Autobot leader Optimus Prime disappeared in an accident with a space bridge, the Autobot and Decepticon forces splintered into smaller factions. Cliffjumper stayed with the Autobots under the leadership of Prowl.

Learning that the Decepticons were testing a new mobile command base at the Praetorus Wharf, Prowl lead Cliffjumper, Gears, Jazz, Skids and Sideswipe to investigate. What they discovered was Trypticon (Transformers: The War Within - The Dark Ages #3).

Six million years ago, Ultra Magnus united the Autobot factions and lead them to victory over Decepticons and Ultracons. Megatron returned to Cybertron in command of the clone forces of the Aerospace Extermination Squadron and took over Cybertron. Cliffjumper was among the Autobots enslaved and forced to labor tunneling into Cybertron's core (Transformers: War Within - The Age of Wrath #2).

Eventually Optimus Prime returned to Cybertron and helped free the enslaved Autobots.

Cliffjumper was among the Autobots who followed Optimus Prime on his mission on board the Ark and crash landed on Earth.

Cliffjumper In 1984, when the Ark's computer re-activated, it reformatted Cliffjumper as in the form of an Earth car.

Eventually the combined forces of the Autobots on Earth, and their human allies were able to capture the Decepticons. A ship called the Ark II was built to take the Cybertonians back to Cybertron, along with some human companions, but the ship exploded shortly after takeoff. The human allies were killed, but the Cybertonians were lost in the ocean, again in statis lock.

Cliffjumper traveled to Cybertron along with Optimus Prime and a number of Autobots when arrested by Ultra Magnus.

Bumblebee was placed in command of the Autobot supply shuttle Orion, with Powerglide, Warpath, Seaspray, Cosmos, Cliffjumper, Bumper and the Powerdashers assigned to him. Their mission was to aid the Autobots on Earth. Upon arriving in the Earth system from transwarp space, they witnessed the arrival of Sunstorm (Transformers: Generation One III #1).

The crew of the Orion.

Cliffjumper "Let me at 'em" is Cliffjumper's usual response when the Autobots embark on a mission. His eagerness and daring have no equal among the Autobots. Optimus Prime knows this gung-ho trait is an expression of Cliffjumper's burning desire for vengeance on the Decepticons. Although he takes his work very seriously, Cliffjumper is full of good-natured bravado while he's doing it. He doesn't actively dislike Earth, but he considers its rough, uneven terrain a hindrance to his effectiveness, and too often is carelessly destructive. Often he is on the receiving end of a lecture from Optimus on caution and the protection of Earthen property.

''Let's burn rubber.'' - Cliffjumper

Trivia: On the Transformers television show, the voice of Cliffjumper is played by actor Casey Kasem. Although Cliffjumper is officially considered red in color, there were yellow variants released in 1984 and sometimes the Autobot Bumper was packaged in his place. Green versions were also released in some foreign markets. He was also released as a Cliffjumper keychain in red, and in Japan as a Cliffjumper keychain in black. The toy of Cliffjumper is very similar to that of Tap-Out.

Cliffjumper Powers: Cliffjumper is nearly fearless and one of the fastest of the Autobots in his automobile mode and he makes a particularly effective target for drawing fire away from other Autobots, a job he relishes and seldom gets hurt doing. He can fire projectiles filled with what he calls "glass gas." On impact, this gas disrupts the microscopic crystalline structure of most metals, temporarily making the metal as brittle as common glass. He can use this gun in either form. Cliffjumper has special sensors which allow him to detect his current depth in the Earth or other planets. He was outfitted with a special set of hydrofoils by Wheeljack for travel on water. Cliffjumper sometimes utilizes a standard Autobot jet pack.

Weaknesses: Cliffjumper is prone to literal blow-outs in his automobile mode. He accelerates so quickly and recklessly that he is sometimes disabled before he goes 50 yards. His overeagerness can often lead him into dangerous situations that he's not prepared to handle, and sometimes if the wind is blowing toward him, he can fall victim to his own glass gas. Cliffjumper isn't very strong, intelligent or tough compared to other Autobots, but what he lacks he makes up in eagerness and endless courage.
